Intelligent Parking Lot Controller (IPLC) technology is the answer to skyrocketing electricity costs associated with keeping vehicle engines warm and ready for easy start-up in sub-zero temperatures.  Plugging block heaters into electrical outlets is an inefficient - and expensive - proposition when large fleets are involved. IPLC technology saves money by regulating when the device is used, for example waiting until the engine has cooled to a certain degree before it becomes operational.

The small, box-like IPLC device is installed on ordinary, outdoor electrical outlets that can then be individually programmed to conserve electricity by taking into account factors like temperature, wind chill, and the time of day the device is in use.  Users can then reduce the amount of energy consumed by the heater, up to 65%, according to each day’s conditions and what each vehicle requires to stay warm, rather than relying on a simple on or off block heater functionality. Additional indicator lights enable users to monitor block heater performance and note any malfunction.

Time is Running Out: Energy Efficient Rebates Won’t Last long

If you are planning to apply for one of the Energy-Efficiency Rebate Programs available to help your business offset the cost of energy-efficient retrofits, time is running out!

Each program, including ERIP and ecoEnergy, offers rebate incentives to businesses, but each has been granted a set amount of available funding that is distributed on a first come, first serve basis.  The approval process has already lengthened from a 15-30 day period to a lengthier 45-60 days due to the incredible demand, so it is vital to submit your application soon to secure your project rebate. Once all funds are allocated, the incentive programs will close and the opportunity to reap the rewards of energy-efficiency and cost-savings will be harder to achieve without funding support.

Shed Some Light on Workplace Safety

The newly introduced Bill 168 amendment to the Occupational Health and Safety Act now makes it mandatory for businesses to take every precaution to protect their employees from violence in the workplace.
