  Turn Downtime into UPTIME!

Annual plant shutdowns are fast approaching and proactive care for equipment and facilities is top of mind. But what about the electrical systems that power your production equipment? Maintaining these is just as vital as maintaining the equipment itself.Get the most out of a planned plant maintenance window by addressing electrical system maintenance requirements at the same time.  Now is the time to complete your annual Infrared Thermal Imaging scan to identify problems before they become costly and potentially dangerous.  Thermal Imaging highlights hot spots and weak areas that cannot be seen by visual inspection, so you know exactly what maintenance and/or repair work is necessary to avoid unexpected system failures. Scheduling a Thermal Scan well ahead of your maintenance window is important, so that replacement components can be obtained. Repair and maintenance can then be completed during the planned shut-down period so that all systems are production-ready at the same time.

Combining electrical system and production equipment maintenance into a single process ensures that your entire facility can go back online operating at optimum levels - a sure way to maximize uptime.  To book your annual Thermal Imaging scans, contact our service department today!

Taking the Lead in Workplace Safety

When it comes to managing job sites and working with a variety of subcontracted trades, ongoing employee safety training and safety review is vital. It’s also the foundation of Dial One Wolfedale Electric ’s safety strategy: to continually take the lead on new and emerging safety issues and programs. With updated Arc Flash regulations based on NFPA 70E Fire Protection Standards coming this fall, now is the time to take a look at revamping your own safety practices while preparing to meet the latest guidelines. Do you have a plan? At Dial One Wolfedale Electric a comprehensive staff training model ensures our employees will have the knowledge to fulfill every aspect of the new regulations, over and above our already robust internal Arc Flash education program.  All Field Teams are issued an Arc Flash kit, which includes FR-rated coveralls, face shield, balaclava, rubber gloves and leather gloves to keep them as safe as possible on the job. Keeping pace with regulatory updates shouldn’t be your only safety goal, it’s important to innovate and encourage your employees to exceed minimum requirements. For example, Dial One Wolfedale is expanding protective clothing options for our staff in the coming months. A complete FR-rated clothing line is just another way we let our staff, and our customers, know that workplace safety is our number one priority. Every facility has unique needs and concerns, and there are many easily implemented programs that can give your workplace an extra layer of defence against incidents that can cause injury to employees and damage to equipment.  Reviewing safety training and standards regularly with employees is one of them, and ensuring that Supervisors are trained to Green Book standards is another. Competent Supervisor training remains integral to our own strategy. Regular “Toolbox Talk” staff meetings on all of our job sites reinforce basic safety principles and site-specific hazards. In addition, our foremen complete a work-site checklist and inspection to identify issues before they become problems.

A commitment to workplace safety is essential to safeguard your people and your business. If you need information about new regulations, training or certification, feel free to contact our Health and Safety Department - we’ll be happy to direct you to the contacts and resources you need to stay at the forefront on these vital safety issues.
