Dial One Wolfedale Electric Gives The Shopping Channel the Power to Improve Energy Efficiency

Mississauga – March 7, 2008 – Dial One Wolfedale Electric Ltd., one of Ontario’s leading industrial commercial electrical contractors, announced the recent completion of a lighting retrofit for the Shopping Channel at its 250,000 square foot distribution facility on Kennedy Road in Mississauga. The newly installed, sensor-operated lighting fixtures not only reduce energy usage and environmental impact but improve lighting for a more comfortable employee work environment.

Dial One Wolfedale Electric recommended the installation of energy efficient, fluorescent T-5 lighting technology in the distribution facility, which ships hundreds of thousands of products across Canada each year. “T5 technology offers the best combination of energy efficiency and lighting quality for this type of application”, said Jackie Strachan, General Manager at Dial One Wolfedale Electric. “The Shopping Channel’s decision to complete the retrofit will not only reduce energy costs by an estimated $20,000 per year, it will also lessen environmental impact and provide employees with a brighter and more comfortably lit work environment” she added.

As Canada’s leading broadcast retailer, The Shopping Channel offers a wide selection of high quality brand name and unique products at competitive prices. Its Mississauga distribution facility is an integral part of its business, and at 250,000 square feet, its power requirements are significant. Making it more energy efficient and improving the quality of its interior lighting were key factors in undertaking the retrofit project.

“We feel it’s important to be a socially and environmentally responsible organization. It’s also important to us that we provide a comfortable work environment for our people. The lighting retrofit communicates this to our suppliers, our employees and, most importantly, our customers,” states Tony Ruberto, Director, Operations for the Shopping Channels’ national distribution centre. “We selected Dial One Wolfedale Electric to complete this project because of the history of great service they’ve provided to The Shopping Channel. They were able to complete the project on time, within budget and with no interruption to our daily operations”.

Dial One Wolfedale Electric has worked with the Shopping Channel since 2001, when it completed the complex electrical installation of the facility’s large conveyor sort system. Today, the company provides planned maintenance services on an ongoing basis to ensure the system continuously runs at optimum efficiency.

“Our work with The Shopping Channel has allowed us to support an industry leader in taking a significant step in reducing power consumption in their facility,” comments Jackie Strachan, General Manager at Dial One Wolfedale Electric. “We’re proud to help The Shopping Channel in its commitment to making environmentally responsible choices.”
