Challenge: To create a safe and energy efficient work environment.
Solution: Installation of state-of-the-art technology to control lighting levels and demand. This six storey Ontario Power Generation office building in Pickering, Ontario was awarded the 2005 Canadian design-build award of excellence, presented by the Canadian Design-Build Institute. As the electrical contractor selected for the $2.0 million project, Dial One Wolfedale Electric installed the main service, backup generator and U.P.S.
Due to its close proximity to the Pickering Power Plant, the facility had a major grounding grid. The project included state-of-the-art technology using computers to manage heating and lighting. Immediate area lighting system control can be managed through desktop PCs. Motion and daylight harvesting sensors adjust electrical consumption requirements based on daylight absorbed into the building. Encilium lighting controls allow each workstation to control its own lighting to ensure the most efficient use of available ambient light.
