Challenge: To create an environmentally friendly and neighbour-sensitive full-service pet food processing facility, installing all process distribution and control wiring on a very short schedule.
Solution: Used a European style wiring/cabling system to install the electrical distribution and controls wiring for the plant's processing equipment. The time-efficient installation plan enabled wiring to be completed within a 4-month period.
Royal Canin's move to Puslinch Township, near Guelph, Ontario, involved a $60 million facility to house production, sorting, and distribution equipment spread over approximately 4 to 5 acres of development on a 94 acre site. Royal Canin manufactures premium-quality pet foods which it distributes through specialty retailers and veterinarians. The new plant is dedicated to the North American market and will employ approximately 90 staff members in both production and administration. The plant was scheduled for start-up in the summer of 2008.
Dial One Wolfedale Electric was chosen as the process installer, having recently completed a large project in Brantford, Ontario, in the same category. Once a site visit was conducted, the client was assured of timely completion of the project. The plant is highly automated through a French Integrator, Courbon, with equipment certified for use in Canada.
